Birth & Early Life:

Hazrat Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen Chishti Nizami Makhadi (RA) was born in the famous scholarly and spiritual family of Makhad Sharif in the home of Hazrat Maolana Ahmad-ud-Deen (RA) in 1921 AD. He learnt the Qur’an by heart (Hifz) and completed his early education from the great Madrassah of Khanqah-e-Moa’llah in Makhad Sharif. In Hifz-ul-Quran, Hafiz Molvi Noor Husain Qureshi (RA) of Tarap and Hafiz Mian Muhammad (RA) of Kharpa (Pindi Gheb) was his teacher. After the completion of Hifz-ul-Quran the repetition of learning completed from Haji Hafiz Muhammad Sultan (RA) (father of Maolana Ghulam Mohiy-ud-Deen Molvi Jee, Malho Wali). Early education and education of literature got from His father Hazrat Maolana Muhammad Ahmed-ud-Deen Makhadi (RA).

Siblings:

He had four brothers and two sisters.
The only eldest brother’s name was Hazrat Maolana Sharaf-ud-Deen (RA), who passed away in very young hood. He was very beloved to the father. After his demise his father Hazrat Maolana Muhammad Ahmed-ud-Deen Chishti (RA) got second marriage from which Allah blessed him with first son Hazrat Maolana Ahmed-ud-Deen (RA) named him same as Hazrat Maulana Sharf-ud-Deen. (D-2018). The name of third brother was Hazrat Maolana Sahibzada Muhammad Ali (RA) (D-2011. The fourth brother lived only for two or three days. He was by birth circumcised. May Allah bless him!

Marital Life and Children:

He was married with the daughter of his paternal uncle Hazrat Maolana Muhammad-ud-Deen Makhadi (RA). He had four children, one son and four daughters. The eldest daughter passed away on the 13th of Ramadan, 1996. His mausoleum is in Makhad Sharif. The eldest in children was son named Hazrat Maolana Fateh-ud-Deen Chishti (RA) who became the Sajjada Nasheen of Khanqah-e-Moa’lla Hazrat Maolana Muhammad Ali Makhadi (RA) after his demise. After returning from Rampur state, Hazrat Maulana Fazal-ud-Deen Chishti (RA) also stayed in Sindh region for some period. After reaching back home, Makhad Sharif, he started teaching. He used to teach Hadees Sharif in the ancient Madrassa of Makhad Sharif for a long time. In July 1969, after the demise of his father Hazrat Maolana Ahmad-ud-Deen Makhadi (RA) he was granted with Sajjada of the Khanqah-e-Moa’lla of Hazrat Maolana Makhadi (RA). He was the fifth Sajjada Nasheen. He remained on the Sajjada of this monastery for 40 years.

Higher Education

Molvi Ghulam Fareed, Maolana Mohib-un-Nabi Molvi Abdul Hai (Bhoi Gar, Taxila), Molvi Abdul Rauf Hazarvi and Maolana Imam Ghazali (pominent disciple of Hazrat Khawaja Ahmed Mairvi (RA) were the particularly noteworthy teacher for him who taught him Dars-e-Nizami and other books. He received the education of Hidayah and Mishkwat Sharif from Hazrat Allama Sikandar Hazarvi (RA). The personality of Hazrat Allama Hazarvi (RA) was unparalleled in knowledge and literature. Before teaching in Makhad Sharif, he used to teach in Dar-ul- Uloom Deoband for 50 years. Maolvi Ghulam Mohiy-ud-Deen Sahib Molvi Jee (RA), a long-time friend and Madrassa-fellow of Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen (RA), said that one day after the Zuhar prayer, Hazrat Maulana Sikandar Khan Sahib was teaching lesson. While his lesson, Hazrat Maolana Ghulam Zain-ud-Deen Taragvi (RA) came and quietly sat behind the students. When Maolana Sahib finished teaching the lesson, Hazrat Allama Maolana Ghulam Zain-ud-Din began to say that Maolvi Sikandar Sahib is the teacher of the scholars, not of the students, only of the lessons with difficulties should be taught by him.

Hazrat Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen Chishti (RA) completed His Hadees course from Jamia Abbasia Bahawalpur. Golra Sharif’s intellectual and spiritual personality, Hazrat Pir Syed Ghulam Mohiy-ud-Deen Gillani (RA) renowned Bary Lala Ji, was also his lesson-fellow. After completion of Hadees course, he came back to Makhad Sharif. In 1943, he also lived in Rampur state for some period. The purpose of this travel was to look-after his own land. During this journey Molvi Ghulam Mohiy-ud-Deen Molvi Jee (RA) was his companion. He went back home after some period.

Allegiance and Caliphate (Bait-o-Khilafat)

You were the disciple of Hazrat Khwaja Mahmood Taunsvi (RA), the holy saint, the eye and lamp of Shah Suleman’s family. He said it himself that when Hazrat Khawaja Muhammad Taonsvi (RA) visited Makhad Sharif for the last time, Hazrat said that all the children should be made disciples, there is no hope of life that I could come again here.. At that time, all the children of our family in Makhad Sharif were honored with the pledge of allegiance. At the same time, I was also blessed with this great blessing.

Teachings and routines:

His life was characterized by simplicity and honesty. The chief editor of ‘Qindeel-e-Suleman’ said that he had not seen such a true and honest person like Hazrat Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen Chishti (RA). He did not fear of anything except Allah and His Holy Prophet SAWW. Honesty, integrity and truth were his motto that expressed during his life time. He did not like fame and fortune at all. He was offered several high government positions but he turned them down every time. During the reign of General Zia-ul-Haq, he was appointed as the Chairman of Zakat Committee, Attock, he accepted it because of insistence of his friends and the spirit of service. But shortly he resigned from this post. The reason of resign was the department officials who did not use to work as it required. He was also not satisfied with the government policies.

Sufism was His favorite subject. Whatever friends and devotion come, must impressed by his conversation and simplicity. During the conversation, as an argument or of your own words, for explanation, he used to narrate Quranic verses, Hadees Mubarak and the stories of saints.

Hafiz and Iqbal were His favorite poets. while reading the poems of both poets he became mesmerized. About Allama Muhammad Iqbal He said that Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a great lover of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAWW.In gatherings of Milad-e-Mustafa SAWW, Mefil-e-Sama and other religious gatherings, the sight of His true love would have been seen. He immersed in the love of Rasulullah SAWW that unawaring of the surroundings and other things his eyes ran with tears. During his later-age, despite of weakness and illness he used to attend in all the gatherings.After completing Hifz-ul-Qur’an, he recited the Holy Qur’an regularly in Taraweeh prayer every year till 1990. This routine continued for about 50 years. He had the privilege of reciting the Holy Quran in Makhad Sharif, in the mosques of the inside village, in the Khanqah Mo’alla Hazrat Maolana Muhammad Ali’s Masjid, sometimes in front of the Shrine of Hazrat Maolana Makhadi (RA) and sometimes on the bank of river.

Journeys of Blessings:

As long as his health permitted he continued to perform Hajj, He travelled with his partents to Hijaz in 1925. In such a very little age to perform Hajj, Allah Almighty and His Holy Prophet SAWW’s great blessings upon him. It heard from His blessed tongue that during the first Hajj, during Tawaf, the cover was suddenly wrapped him inside the Kaaba, it was not a human-effort. It was raining kisses for a long time when it was pulled out. Everyone came running and started kissing you. This continued for a long time.

 After this presence in Hajjaz-e-Muqadas he was blessed with the presence of Baitullah Sharif and Roza-e-Rasool SAWW for 5 times. During last days of age whenever who one come to meet before going for Umrah or Hajj Hazrat Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen Chishti (RA) used to say him to present Salam and Dua in front of Roza-e-Rasool SAWW.

The Urs Mubarak gatherings of Hazrat Khwaja Shah Muhammad Suleman Taunsvi (RA) and Khawaja Allah Bakhsh Taunsvi (RA) he used to regularly attend. He used to visit Qadirpur Sharif (Multan) to attend the Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Khwaja Mahmood Taonsvi (RA). Hazrat Khawaja Mahmood Taonsvi (RA)’s demise happened in Qadirpur Sharif (Multan). Hazrat Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen Chishti Makhadi (RA) continued to attend Qadirpur Sharif (Multan) following the footsteps of his father Hazrat Khwaja Maolana Ahmad-ud-Deen Makhadi (RA). So he used to say about the presence of the Taunsa Sharif that this presence is a pilgrimage for the poor like us. His grandson Sahibzada Professor Dr Sajid Mehmood Nizami sb says whenever I would ask for permission to go to Taunsa Sharif, he would say, “Son! Who prevents the presence of Roza-e-Rasool SAWW and Pir Pathan Taunsvi (RA)? Go, son, go with happily and present my honors with folded hands and beg permission for me for presence. He used to stay in Makhadi-Bangla for a period during the presence in Urs Mubarak, Taunsa Sharif. Simplicity was part of his personality. He used to sit on a common mat. All the devotees gathered around him. The people had the opportunity to listen him about lovely words of the Holy Prophet SAWW, the stories of the saints and the astonishing spiritual happenings of Mashaikh that the soulful people would have been blessed.

Routine as Sajjada Nasheen:

After the demise of his father Hazrat Khawaja Maolana Ahmad-ud-Deen Makhadi (RA), he used to stay Makhad Sharif. He did not travel to any other place with his intention, except for the journey to the holy places of Hijjaz and Taunsa. Friends and relatives request him to visit them. He used to try as much as possible not to go out of Makhad Sharif, if someone utomost requested him, he would say that I will go with you but make a promise then I will go with you as I had promised that I would come back to Makhad Sharif at night, will not stay the night anywhere else. This was his style of love and commitment to Hazrat Maolana (RA)’s monastery.

The truth is that Hazrat Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen Chishti (RA) was the jewel of Makhad Sharif, the true inheritor of the thoughts and actions of his predecessors and the trustee of their blessings and blessings.

Demise:

Hazrat Maolana Fazal-ud-Deen Makhadi (RA)’s demise happened on 2nd Sha’ban 1429 AH on Tuesday, corrensponding to the 5th August 2008 AD at around 1:30 PM. His funeral prayer was performed at 10:45 am on the next day in front of Holy Tomb of Hazrat Maolana Makhadi (RA). The funeral prayer was led by his younger brother Hazrat Maolana Sharaf-ud-Deen Makhadi (RA). For some time his funeral was stayed in front the door of the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Maolana Makhadi (may God bless him and grant him peace) after prayers and offering honour this great personality of Chishti Chain was buried. (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.) Every face was mournful and every eye was sad on that time. May Allah shower millions of blessings on his shrine! Ameen.
